Norman

Norman was hired on a Monday. His induction was booked for the Tuesday, then moved, then moved again, and then the department that hired him was folded into a department that had no record of him.

His contract was never countersigned. No supervisor was ever assigned. And because the placement was never formally opened, there is no procedure by which it can be formally closed.

So the forms arrive. Norman stamps them. At some point in the night someone takes them away, and in the morning there are more. He has never been told to stop. He has never asked.

His placement is still listed as active.
